The band is made up of three imaginary creatures, which are visualized as 3D avatars, and one actual human, Loveboy.
Slightly different to Gorillaz, who are fully animated, Loveboy x HIF present themselves younger, cheekier and with a little bit more light hearted humor.
The three imaginary band members are being projected onto LEDs or video mapped with projectors, and brought to life through ready made videos.
The imaginary friends play different instruments, and do other shenanigans during the show.
The music is split into backing tracks, and live performed vocals and guitar parts.
The visuals are being triggered and played through midi-controllers. This allows for a one-man show… well, actually one man and 3 imaginary ones.
The show tells stories from the 'Loveboy fantasies'. An imaginary world that lies in the head of a human.
One of these, for example tells the story of how Loveboy met his now bass player, Hugtus the cactus.
At one point there's a costume change, where Loveboy runs off stage only to return with nothing but swimmers, sandals and sunnies.
Added to that are a few Kung-Fu kicks and funky dances.
One of the highlights: Beefynn, the dead but flying dolphin, does a gymnastic session with the crowd.
Because it's all about mental health: if you wanna be healthy in the head, you gotta stay active with your body.
Merchandise is also sold, for the people that wanna take a piece of imaginary culture with them.
At the end, Beefynn and Loveby play a ballad, with Beefynn playing the piano.

Well… no one knows for sure. But as for this project, it's in constant development.
We're currently working on a live motion-capture system that allows us to have 3 people backstage performing as the characters in real-time.
First tests were succesfull.
In addition we're working on our next big story/album: 'Smile Baby'.
It's a story about Paul, a depressive sun, who's losing his light. Loveboy and his imaginary friends are helping him to find out what is wrong, and in the process find the Smile Baby. But Paul isn't happy about what the Smile Baby has to say to him…
3 concept videos of this story have been finished and are currently on display at the Kunsthalle in St.Gallen.
